“Moving into the next phase of your life is a lot like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.” – Unknown
So I’m writing this blog today to announce some bittersweet news about DMF. After nearly three years of dancing, laughing, motivating and sharing amazing experiences with YOU, our incredible NYC clients, we will be closing our doors for regular classes on December 19th. I am so grateful for everyone who has been a part of the DMF journey. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see your faces week to week and how much it means to me that you took a chance on DMF and let us into your lives.
As many of you know, my passion for working with under-served children led me to establish my non-profit, DMF YOUTH. After many months of trying to balance growing the non-profit and growing my DMF business (plus working several freelance jobs!), I came to the conclusion that I’m not superwoman and can’t do it all effectively. Teaching fitness and motivating clients to live their best lives is wonderful, but I’ve discovered that doing the same for inner-city youth is my true purpose. It is amazing how our journey can change and evolve. Through establishing a for profit business for adults several years ago, I’ve been blessed to discover that DMF works even better with kids in need. I’m finally brave enough to shift course and pursue DMF YOUTH with my full heart, time and energy.
Although DMF will no longer provide regular weekly classes, we WILL be available for private parties, events, and coachings and intend to keep our positive presence on social media. We know many of you have purchased packages and we hope you will continue to dance it out with us the rest of November and December. Whatever classes remain in your package after December 19th, we are happy to redeem to you via check. You also have the option to donate the remainder of your classes to DMF YOUTH and help sponsor a child in our upcoming after school program in January.
Again, I can’t express how grateful I am for all of your support, energy, and friendship. This has not been an easy decision as I will miss seeing your smiling faces on a weekly basis. But I hope as DMF shifts course, we will be able to provide a positive movement among NYC’s youngest generation, giving them the tools they need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives. We are always looking for help in our endeavors and truly hope you will stay involved and connected in our movement.
With love and gratitude,
Lindi and The DMF Team
